Your festive cocktail dilemmas are over - we've come up with a delicious Mince Pie Martini, using our best selling Signature Style Gin, and our new look Eccentric Spirits Black Batch Rum, and some store cupboard ingredients you'll almost certainly have in the house over the Christmas period. It takes a little effort to create your own golden mince pie syrup, but the end result is completely stunning. Don't be put off either by the sugar and spice glass rim - it's incredibly easy and really finishes of the serve, giving it added 'wow'.
What do I need to make a Mince Pie Martini?
Our Mince Pie Martini is a very easy serve that doesn't require any fancy or unusual ingredients, If you have a bottle of good gin and some delicious spiced rum, it will work a treat. Our Signature Style and Black Batch Spiced Rum fit the bill perfectly for the alcohol required - already full of Christmassy flavours, they complement each other really well, You'll need some red vermouth too, and some mincemeat. For the sugar and spice rim, some sugar and some ground mixed spice are all that's required.
How do I make mince pie syrup?
This Mince Pie Martini recipe calls for Mince Pie Syrup - and it's really easy to make your own: combine 100g soft brown sugar (or golden caster sugar) and 50g mincemeat with 100ml water in a pan, then bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until the sigare as dissolved then leave to cool. Strain into a jug, jam jar or sealed bottle depending on when you're planning to mix up your martinis, and keep in the fridge.
How do I frost the glasses for a Mince Pie Martini?
For the pretty Sugar and Spice glass rim for this cocktail, you meed to mix together 4 tbsp of sugar and 4 tsp of ground mixed spice on a plate. Run a wet finger around the rim of the glass so the sugar mix has something to cling on to, then gently roll the edge of the glass in the sugar mix and set aside to dry.
Mix up a Mince Pie Martini
Once you've got your Mince Pie Syrup sorted, and your glasses ready with their fristy sugar and spice rims, you're ready to go!
For 2 - 3 Martinis, you will need:
Mincemeat (use the best you can) - 4tsp
Signature Style Gin - 100ml
Red Vermouth - 100ml
Black Batch Spiced Rum - 50ml
Mince Pie Syrup - 80ml (made as above with 100g sugar, 50g mincemeat and 100 ml water)
Spoon the mincemeat into a cocktail shaker (or use a large jam jar with a lid). Add the Signature Style Gin, Red Vermouth, Black Batch Rum and Mince Pie Syrup to the cocktail shaker and stir together. Add ice, place the lid on the shaker and give it some Christmas shaking, then strain into your glasses.
