This November, we're opening up In the Welsh Wind for its annual Open Day. It's the perfect way to visit us and find out what makes an award-winning distillery tick. Discover more about how we make gin and now single malt Welsh whisky - and what our plans are for the future.

In January 2023, In the Welsh Wind was 5 years old. 5 years of producing gin - and now well on our way to producing a single malt Welsh whisky. If you knew us back then, back at 'Plas', and hadn't visited in between times, you could be forgiven for wondering if we were the same business. Scratch the surface, by spending some time here - maybe booking on to a free Open Day Tour, though, and you'll discover that while we may have grown both in terms of our physical size, and in our ambition, we're still motivated by our desire to produce the best craft spirits in Wales.

When is the Distillery Open Day happening?

Our Distillery Open Day is running on Saturday 4th November 2023 10 - 4. You'll find us at the Gogerddan Arms, Tanygroes, Cardigan SA43 2HP.

There is plenty of parking onsite and we're on the T5 bus route between Cardigan and Aberaeron.

Do I need to book for the Distillery Open Day?

There's no need to book, but if you want to be sure of a place on one of our free distillery tours, it's worth bagging a slot sooner rather than later.

What can you expect on our Distillery Open Day?

Our main purpose in inviting you to visit the distillery this November on our Open Day is to share with you what we're doing. We love nothing more than talking about the process of making gin and whisky. You will be introduced to our stills on a free distillery tour. We'll also open up the whisky room so you can take a peak at our unique floor malting process. We'll also explain why we're using green malt to make our whisky - the only distillery in the UK (that we know of) using this method of production.

Should you want to try some of our gins, sample a rum or a vodka, we'll be happy to oblige of course. We'll have free samples available on the shop, and our bar will be open should you want to enjoy a G&T with us.

The shop will be fully stocked and we'll have some exciting offers available should you decide to buy.

Will food & drink be available at the Distillery Open Day?

Our Distillery bar will be open, serving our gins, vodka and rum and a selection of whiskies (our own isn't quite ready yet!). Given the time of year, we'll more than likely be serving up our popular mulled gin and mulled rum too - perfect if it's a  damp, chilly day. As far as food is concerned, we're very excited that pizza makers extraordinaire, Tafell a Tan, will be with us, serving up some of their delicious pizzas during the event.

Can I visit the Distillery at other times?

Absolutely! We're open Monday - Saturday 9-5 most weeks (although keep an eye on social media and our website for any seasonal changes to those hours). We have a shop onsite for all your spirits needs, and you can see our stills. Tours are available on days other than the Open Day, subject to availability and a small charge. We run Gin Tasting and Gin Making experiences Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays and a regular Cocktail Masterclass on the last Friday of the month.

We hope we'll see you on 4th November for the Distillery Open Day. We're easy to find on the main A487 coast road in the old Gogerddan Arms pub.
