It’s Awards season for gin, and while Signature Style has gathered a host of accolades around it, we’ve been delight that we’ve won a number of important awards for Eccentric Gin.
Producing great quality gin is something we’re proud of. We get amazing feedback from our customers, many coming back for more of their favourite bottle. We’re also finding that people are interested in trying the other bottles in the range. To be honest, this feedback is what makes the difference to us – but we would be lying if we said that these recent awards for Eccentric gin weren’t very exciting for us!
Our gold winner Young Tom
Young Tom is our take on a traditional Old Tom. These ‘Old Tom’ gins were reputed to be sweet to disguise the flavours of bad alcohol. Today, there’s no issue with the quality of the alcohol, but we were keen to introduce an Old Tom style gin into the Eccentric Spirits Collection. We achieve the sweetness that’s typical of an Old Tom through the inclusion of an IPA wash – think malty flavour throughout the gin.
We were very pleased to hear that the Drinks Business and Spirits Business thought as much of Young Tom as we did – and awarded it a Gold medal in their 2021 Spring Tasting.
Silver awards for Eccentric gin
Limbeck is the cask-aged gin in the Eccentric collection. Botanicals including blue ginger and tarragon combine to make a flavourful dry gin which we then rest in French Burgundy casks. These casks have been seasoned with Pinot Noir from our friends at White Castle Vineyard Abergavenny. Much like whisky, the cask imparts colour and flavour.
We entered Limbeck into a number of awards, and it’s come out with silver medals in the World Gin Awards 2021 and the Drinks Business and Spirits Business Spring Tasting 2021. At the time of writing, Limbeck is also a finalist in the Gin Guide Awards 2021 – we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the final results!
…and finally, Madam Geneva
Our classic dry gin Madam Geneva includes all the juniper forward flavour you’d expect from a London dry – with an Eccentric twist. In our bottle, flavours of angelica and wild sunflower sit alongside the juniper and we include a range of fresh citrus for a crisp, sharp tang.
At the World Gin Awards 2021, Madam Geneva came home with a bronze medal – something to be proud of in a very competitive category.
