We’re incredibly excited to announce that our planning permission to expand the Gogerddan Arms site has been granted, paving the way for a multi-million pound development right here in west Wales.

We now have the go ahead to extend and develop the existing building and to construct a cask and grain store which is fundamental to our production of ‘grain to glass’ Welsh whisky. We also have pre-planning approval to create an industry-leading education and research centre, a development that we’re really keen to move forward with, here at our home at Tanygroes.

Even before we moved here, we felt there was potential for a business on this site that had never been fully reached. This planning permission paves the way for us to build a world class distillery business here in west Wales with the addition of quality buildings designed to allow for growth and to showcase our gins and our grain to glass welsh malt whisky.

If you haven’t been following our story from the beginning, we set up the distillery in a renovated cowshed at Tresaith, and moved into the iconic Gogerddan Arms pub, at a flagship location on the west Wales coast road, in March 2019. We had a lease with an option to purchase and were able to exercise that option to purchase in early 2020, taking ownership days before the first lockdown.

It’s from here that we released our now award-winning In the Welsh Wind Signature Style, in summer 2020, and just last week (April 2021) launched our limited-edition Palo Cortado cask-aged gin. It’s also here that we’re now malting barley grown in fields at and near to the distillery. We are on a journey to create a 100% Welsh single malt whisky and this planning permission will give us the space to do that.
