The story of Meirion

The pipe was an affectation that had become a permanent fixture. Not a popular choice, but he was not for changing. While the ships were out of port, work shifted to the land, and the faint smell of smoke lingered in his wake, along the lanes winding up from the coast to the farms, and through the barley fields.

As time went on, the hint of smoke was forever associated with him and his work - which he applied himself to, year in year out, whether on the quayside or working the soil - and became transformative, a symbol of character and quality.
