A cask-aged gin cocktail brings complexity and depth to your drinks repertoire. Even if you just enjoy mixing up cocktails in a relaxed fashion on the weekend to enjoy at home, seek out a bottle of cask-aged gin and you won’t be disappointed.

The Grand Limbeck is a great example of a cask-aged gin cocktail. The gin itself, Limbeck from the Eccentric Spirits range is beautiful peach. This colour comes from the French burgundy casks that the distilled gin rests in at our distillery. The aging process lasts 3-6 months. It allows the botanical profile to develop further than it otherwise would in a gin. In Limbeck’s case, resting in a cask brings the flavours of blue ginger, citrus, and tarragon more beautifully together. The gin has won silver medals at the World Gin Awards 2021 and the Drinks Business and Spirits Business Spring Tasting 2021. These awards are testament to the balance of the gin – which lends itself perfectly to cocktails.

Limbeck as a cask-aged gin cocktail

We knew Limbeck would taste great as a cocktail. Something a bit different, yet distinctive and worthy of the title ‘The Grand Limbeck’. Most of the ingredients are readily available. Typical of a sour, this is a cocktail where the ingredients are added into a cocktail shaker with ice, and then strained into a glass filled with more ice. A final flourish with a maraschino cherry and some orange peel and you’re away.
