Our second In the Welsh Wind/Mackmyra independent bottling showcases the magic - and the power of small casks, in particular, the 30l cask favoured by Mackmyra - and by us here at In the Welsh Wind for much of our Welsh Origin Whisky.
Gruvguld - 'Gold from the Mines' - is a unique marriage of casks constructed from different oaks including Swedish oak and New American oak, and using different finishes including Oloross and Pedro Ximinez. Mainly unpeated, some smoky, rich spice rolls through the liquid enhancing its spicy fruitiness.
Tasting Notes
On the nose - the different whiskies bring varied notes from soft blackcurrant, ginger, anise and tobacco
To taste - Caramelised pear, grapefruit and spicy berry fruits. Soft spicy oak infused with light tar tones and tobacco leaf.
Afterwards - slightly oily, spicy finish with an element of dryness, infused with berry undertones
As with our first In the Welsh Wind independent bottling, this is a limited edition with only around 300 bottles available.
