We loved creating Bar 45, however, with single malt Welsh whisky taking up more of our time, we have taken the decision to hand over the keys and we look forward to seeing how 45 St Mary Street develops.

If you're after a G&T or just fancy sampling our spirits and finding out more about what we're doing here at the distillery, you're welcome to call in - we're open Monday - Saturday 9-5 and there's no need to book to visit the shop and try some samples. If you'd like to spend more time with is, we have bookable tours, Gin Making and Gin Tasting experiences available most weeks - check out our Experiences or give us a call 01239 872300.

In the meantime, Aberteifi/Cardigan has a wealth of places to eat and drink, and some great independent bakeries, farmshops and even in independent wine merchant, both in town and in the surrounding areas.

Yr Hen Printworks

Now featured in the Michelin Guide, Yr Hen Printworks (The Old Printworks) offers a menu based around small plates showcasing local produce - and some stunning cocktails too. We LOVE the Welsh Breakfast Martini, which just so happens to feature our Signature Style gin...

There's a relaxed vibe here, with a courtyard garden. The building has been lovingly refurbished using stone and timber reclaimed from the original building and other properties from the area.

Crwst

Not only does Crwst smash out an incredible brunch, the team produce a range of fresh bread including sourdough, some incredible baked goods (the doughnuts...) and jars of their own sweet treat such as honey butter including local honey, and sea salted caramel.

You can enjoy the full Crwst experience in a lovely art deco building on the corner of Priory Street in Cardigan itself or head to their beach cafe at Poppit Sands for coffee and cake after your swim or surf.

Bocs Du

The new kid on the block in Cardigan, although they've had a summer trading down on the Parrog in Newport (Pembs), Bocs Du have filled the very big shoes of the iconic, and much missed El Salsa, in the Old Pigeon Shed, down on Pwllhai.

Expect delicious streetfood, prepared with fresh local ingredients, currently open Thursday, Friday and Saturday late afternoon/evenings.

Wnco Mwnco

Obviously, we want you to drink gin, vodka and rums, ideally purchased from us or another independent distillery, but wine definitely has a place in our bottle rack, and where better to stock up than Wnco Mwnco, in Cardigan's newly refurbished market hall.

Matt ('him over there' - which is what Wnco Mwnco translates to) has an illustrious background in the wine trade, and while he didn't have any thoughts of continuing his wine career after moving with his family to the town last year, we're very glad that he did!

Bara Menyn

Jack brought the sourdough revolution to Cardigan in 2015, first opening up in the one and only 45, St Mary Street (which subsequently became Bar 45).

Now installed on the corner just over the road, from 45 St Mary Street, and open Thursday - Saturday 12-4, be prepared to queue for incredible bread and pastries, and slices of pizza to make your lunchtime sing.

If you're still hungry or thirsty...

Cardigan has some lovely independent cafes, including Stiwdio 3 and Food for Thought, and, as you'd expect being this close to the sea, some decent fish and chips - try the Pendre Cafe in Aberteifi itself, or head to Caffi Sgadan in Aberporth or The Lime Crab in New Quay.

Like many places, pizza is a favourite around here. In Cardigan itself, Pizza Tipi in its quirky riverside setting, is probably your best bet, but if you fancy a spin up the coast head to Llangrannog for some delicious wood fired pizza with a view over the sea at Tafell a Tan. Tafell a Tan is also open in the morning for incredible coffee and pastries made fresh every day by the owners.

For something a bit more 'occasion', The Cliff Hotel & Spa is set out on the headland at Gwbert, a short drive from Cardigan, and offers an incredible backdrop for your G&T or dinner. You might even spot dolphins as the sun goes down.
